Police Interactions with Persons in Crisis

Broadly, I am interested in examining strategies used by police officers to increase the likelihood of positive outcomes during interactions with individuals in crisis. This area of research consists of two major streams: (1) the use of de-escalation by police officers and (2) the use of mobile crisis intervention teams.

Police Tactical Units

This line of research examines the nature and consequences of the use of police tactical units in Canada.

Stress and Performance

This area of research broadly examines the influence of acute stress on police officers performing their duties.
